Been there done that with a Tahoe and that's rated for 6,000. Bought a new short lightweight trailer around 3,000 and after 2 trips out with it...sold the TT.
You won't be happy. It's more about "wheel base" than weight. SUV = Short wheel base = tail wagging the dog. And it rears it's ugly head in inclement weather and semi's sucking you in and god forbid when someone cuts you off. Just saying. But then again there's many that do it but IMHO they already have the tow vehicle they have and have to use it.
If you are in a position where you are going to 'buy' a TV for a TT. Do yourself a favor and buy a truck. Especially driving long distance to snowbird.
