Lame excuse is all it was because the 3.73 gearing and the Allison was not able to tow more in the SAE forward and reverse hill start test. If they could have pulled more they sure would have.
And now they use 3.42s behind the Duramax/10 speed auto.
HEY, I am a BIG proponent for 3.42's behind the AISIN as it's rated at over 29k combined load. 5th gear at 1,750 same as 4.10's in 6th at 60.
If I buy a 2020 and they still have the 6 speed AISIN I most likely will buy the 3.42's and tow in 5th. YES even towing my 33-35k combined. BONUS is much better solo mileage.
