While I was under my truck looking for wheel ratings I noticed the airlift 5000s airbags that 4wheelparts installed on my truck back in may of 2010. Do these bags look mounted right? I saw some pics of Dodge truck owners and saw bags that are centered slightly off mounting bracket on axle but mine looks extreme? Honestly have not been to impressed with airbags and even though plumbed separately I do not use them because they increase sway on my Dodge 2500 CTD when camper is on. Any any opinions on this install.. Dodge owners??

looks like the plate slid on the passenger side,see the barcode sticker. Time to go tho the spring shop get a leaf or 2 then get a sway bar.

Hey Hammer..Already installed a extra leaf spring and 1 ton Helwig swaybar..took pic in front of Helwig swaybar.

They forgot to put in the bolt that holds the bag bottom to the bracket. As far as increasing sway, sounds like you are putting too much air in.

I recently installed Airlift 5000 on my 2006 Dodge, SRW, Short Bed and it don't look nothing like this......

Mine looks like Kevin's but I have the torklift spacer between the bottom over load spring and the rest of the leaf springs. My air bags are inflated and then adjusted so the leafs just begin to rest on the overloads through the torklift spacers. That way I have the support of the air bags to assist my leaf springs and the stiffness of the overloads engaged.

I went with Timbrens to avoid any problems associated with airbags. Pretty much a install and forget about them approach to maintaining a level truck and descent ride. I coat-tailed them to work with my overload extensions to share the load equally, which helps to minimize sway.

When you raise things up off the springs, air bags give you a 'bowl of jelly' effect. Staying in contact with overloads dampens the effect.

I posted same subject on Truckcamperforum.com and got some responses. One gentleman replied that his 2003 Dodge 3500 airlift airbags are mounted the same way due to 3rd generation axle upgrade from 2nd generation. Mounted between frame and axle which I am learning that without factory top overload can increase sway. Not sure if I want to leave them on. Have not used them in 3 years I had them installed with separate lined dual controller.

Hey billyray, If I can find my other 3 drill bits, would you want them? Sounds like it would save some money if you bought the kit sans bits. If there are any left once you've drilled your holes for the torklifts, just mail them back.

No my truck does not have top overload or any perchs from factory ...just bottom overload

If you don't have overloads then the air bags can cause sway. When you have overloads you put just enough air into them that the overloads are still touching the overload pads. If people with overloads put to much air into their bags then they can get sway also. From you pictures I really can't tell if you have overloads on your truck or not?
