neighbor tows a gooseneck all over the west cost to go cart races with a 2wd. that's what he wants. never had an issue. but he admits, everywhere he goes roads are paved, not during snowstorms, never needs to go on grass or gravel.
perfect for him. gives him an extra 1,000lbs of payload, IFS on his ford. but he has to shop around to find one with 2wd.
We often go onto gravel or dirt roads, wet or dry grass, skiing in the winter, boondock campgrounds. for us, I'm glad we have 4wd. don't need to use it very often, but a real plus when we need it.
so..... look at your travel and decide what works best for you.
