A little further comment on the OP's possibilities of re-gearing the diffs. There was also a 3.69 gearset for the M226 case, which my Frontier has. That ratio was only avail on Frontiers ( and possibly Pathfinder ) that have a six speed manual transmission. You possibly could fit a 3.69 gearset into the Armada case, but one would need to do some measuring and checking first. The Armada case is different because it has IRS.
However. you cannot buy the ring and pinion from Nissan for these. The only individual parts avail are the outer bearings and seals, and the pinion bearing and seal ( good thing too, because they are notorious for failing. I've replaced all three seals and the outer bearings once in the Frontier ) Axles are also avail from Nissan complete with bearings installed on them.
If you need a ring and pinion, you have to buy the entire case with all internals as a unit.
One might be able to find a 3.69 entire axle assembly in a salvage yard, disassemble it, and install those gears in your existing case. But again, you really need to research it, because it may or may not fit.
It would be possible I suppose with a lot of work to modify the case in order to use off the shelf dana 44 gears. You could go all the way to probably 4.56 or maybe 4.88 that way ( maybe not though, as the larger dia ring gear might not fit in the case. There you go....now you'd have pulling torque !
Truth is, the Armada was really intended as a luxo people hauler. Towing was a secondary consideration.
