It's been pretty commonly discussed that RVs routinely go for 25% off list price. That makes that camper 36K. Not cheap, but a lot less than 48K.
As far as buying a different RV type goes, TCs always lose at cost per sq foot except for the top end RVs. I have watched a few youtube videos where people posted close up pictures of their RVs. Some of those cheaper RVs of other types are really poorly built, with the lower cost models usually some of the worst. Based on the pictures, I don't think they would last long in the back of a truck if the same company made TCs.
