4WD vs 2WD
I'll be shopping for a new (or new-ish) truck shortly for pulling a medium size trailer or 5th wheel. It seems like the vast majority of 3/4 and 1 ton trucks around here are 4WD, with jut a few 2WD...

Different strokes for different folks. Personally, i would not own a 2wd truck anymore. I had them in the past and nearly got stuck on the grass in my yard, which is sloped trying to move the camper around.
In fact I've tried to move it sometimes with prior trucks I've owned in 2wd and wound up spinning both rear tires, despite my best efforts not to.
I reach over, click her into 4-hi and she crawls right out. Without that I'd have to get pulled by a truck that has 4wd.
If you really don't need 4wd, don't get it. If that works for you that's great. As said prior, better to have and not need than need and not have, is my preference.
