I get a kick out of rh just waiting to post that snowy pic. :W
With road conditions like that i would have my adz off the road.
I got 2WD with just exactly what I wanted on the truck. I ordered it.
i have never been stuck on wet grass. Seems to be a standard reason to get 4 WD.
Bottom line it is what you need, not what i think you need.
I post that picture as it is a prime example of the need for 4X4.
We were coming home from the coast, and had mixed weather for the week this was the second week in January 2011. It started snowing (mixed rain and snow) as we pulled out of the campground. Well as we started the climb over the Coast Range, about 1/2 way up the first big climb the rear tires broke loose (with about 2,000# pin) with locker rear end. Depressed the clutch and pulled it into 4 High. and just kept on going.
About 10 miles down the road needed to stop on an uphill grade due to a spin-out into the guardrail with a State trouper on site. No issues getting going again, no wheel spin at all.
The other time was with our F250 bringing my DD back from Ohio with a horse trailer in tow. Traveling I90 west second week in December started snowing as we crossed the Continental Divide, by the time we got to Butte roads were snow covered and stayed that way all the way to Spokane.
It is a very good insurance policy!!
