4x4 will open up more experiences for you where 4x2 will not. While camping in the White Mountains as a campground, our site was down hill. Leaving all hitched up I started to spin my wheels and could not get up the grade. Press the button 4 low first gear, and we walked right up the hill. We live near the ocean and bays and our county has outer beach camping. That is exactly as it sounds. 100 spots on the ocean or 100 spots on the sound. Let the air out of the tires and drive over the dunes to your designated spot. There is just nothing like it waking up on the ocean, or going to bed with the slap of the waves. Soon we will start using the National Park system and it might come in handy in the dirt roads. Last my friend was towing his fifth wheel and dropped the drive shaft. He secured then switched to 4 high and drove to the nearest town for repairs.
