4X2 or 4X4 for towing and general use...what say you?

had a 4x2 and boy did I take a bath on it when I traded (so much worse than normal). Two weeks ago I did an early spring trip and got snowed on. Left the rig at its site for a few days but more snow meant I had to get it out. Barely made it in 4x4 but got the rig home. Ive only had to use it on wet grass, occasional snow and steep gravel hills but even a few times in 5 years makes the cost worth it to me.
