First off, I wouldn't be afraid of the Ram as one poster has suggested. :R I do agree with shopping around because some dealers are much more willing to negotiate than others. You could also factory order a truck exactly as you would like it.
A new truck is always nice but I think checking your insurance coverage is a good idea. The only issue with this is it doesn't solve the problem of a ruined trip in the event the pump does grenade.
Another thought is what about going ahead and replacing the CP4 pump in your truck before it fails? I don't know what the differences are in the "upgraded" CP4 but maybe someone on the Duramax forum does and whether or not it would fit into your truck. It seems that a lot of those guys know the trucks inside and out.
