I have a 08 2500 HD, 6 speed with the 3:73 rear ends. A 3/4 ton with the 6.0 and 6speed tranny and you will be fine with the TT you have. I disagree with the 4:10 as a must have. If this is going to be your daily driver at 12 miles daily then 3:73 is fine. Your right that a DMAX just wouldn't pencil out for you. Diesels in my opinion are good if you are going to keep them moving.
