I have owned three late model 2500HD's with the 6.0. The most recent a 2013 with the 3.73 rear axle ratio. It gets the job done while using quite a lot of fuel. They have all been trouble free. Not as glamorous as the turbo models or as thrifty as the diesels. Still, a good solid performer. Not sure why the big difference in towing numbers as I can run fifth instead of sixth to get the same engine speed/road speed as I could with the 4.10
