After 10 years of ownership I have been around the ring with many friends and Co workers telling me how bad my truck is. The funny thing is my experience has involved many calls asking me to come with the trailer to pick them and their broken down vehicles to include a lot of diesels. Sure many people have had issues with the 6.0 and at some point mine will too after all it is a decade old now. And it has been riden hard and put away wet way more times than is good. All I can say is mine has served me and my family well.
Congrats to you!!! I wouldn't be afraid of owning a 6.0L. I know of only 1 person personally who owned one that was a "Garage Queen". Work with alot of guys who have and continue to own them.
My 7.3 has left me stranded once. Does that make it a bad truck? I don't think so. For me best truck I have ever owned. But if for some reason I lost it like I thought when it was stolen this summer. I would look for a nice 6.0, have my local "PowerStroke specialist" look it over. Make any needed improvements and just drive it.
Good luck OP'er. Hope you get to 300K. I am sure you will.
There is a BIG difference between your 7.3L and a 6.0L. I would highly suggest that you keep the 7.3L! I actually looked long and hard for a good 7.3L when I made the decision to move on from my 6.0L and could not find one in nice condition that someone was not asking a small fortune for. That really says something ;)
