I went down this same road less than a month ago. I left my F150 for a Ram 1500 and have now been kicking tires on a 3/4 ton gasser- so I thought it may be good to get back to my Blue Oval roots. Not gonna happen. The F250 with the 6.2, 6 SPD and 4.30s was not even in the same league as the Ram with the 6.4, 6 SPD 4.10s. The drive by wire feels like a nanny-WOT to do anything, but even then it feels like it's doing nothing. Lots of RPM. The F250 would huff and puff and go nowhere. I suspect that it would be sufficient with a trailer tied up as you wouldn't notice the dismal road mannners. For a truck that is 90% DD around the city and 10% trailer tug- the Ram had the win without question. The XLT F250we tested had a GVWR of 9900lbs with 2587lbs avaiable payload. The Ram outdoorsman with WAY more trim options including premium sound system (8.4 AN with 9 speaker surround) sunroof, premium cloth heated buckets, heated wheel, cameras, power folding heated mirrors, etc came in at $3000.00 less OTD with an impressive 3008lbs available payload with the 10000lbs GVWR.
RAM has a real winner with this 6.4 2500. Brother in law is a tech for Dodge. They barely ever see the 6.4 come in for anything other than an oil change.
