Like you,I can understand the desire for clean air but the additional responsibilities of owning a new diesel is chasing me towards a gasser as well and the 6.4 is appealing as is an 8spd auto.....I've been looking as we speak.
Just be aware that no gas burner will compete with the low end Torque of a diesel but that doesn't mean we can't own a competant tow vehicle.
Dodge could easily solve the torque problem by adding something akin to the etorque system to the 6.4, electric motors are wonderful for providing lots of low end torque and it would also be useful for improving efficiency (what Dodge has done with etorque is kinda amazing in that the efficiency gains are much more than the sum of the parts because they are able to do things like optimize shift points by supplimenting a lugging engine with the electric motor do avoid a downshift)
