This is why I said "I know where you going". The speed limit from Katy to the brazos is river is 70 and then to Columbus is 75. I drive thru town, a county road, and on our property dirt roads having to stop to go thru several gates.
My last trip to San Antonio and back yielded a solid 20 mpg both ways with the family packed in full weekend vacation mode. Included stop at Buc-ees.
"What I am getting at" is valid, is it not? Behind driver habits, which could effect mpg as much as 30%, speed is the next biggest factor in fuel mileage. There is a HUGE difference between 19-20 mpg with an average speed of 50-55 mph to 19-20 mpg with an avareage speed of 70 mph. By doing the math on how many miles you traveled and how long it took you clearly shows an average speed of 50 mph on the first pic and 54 mph on the second. I am not trying to get at anything besides what the picture clearly shows.
There was a study done by Cummins while I was tthere called "The Secrets of Better Fuel Economy : The Physics of MPG". I would link it, but I am on my phone and I can't link pdf files without downloading the. It is worth the Google and the read. Although it mainly has to do with semi trucks, many of the same principals apply to light trucks.
