Shinner, enlighten me and perhaps others how the DPF works, don't forget to include how the NOx emissions almost double when regenerating or how the EGR system, both on the exhaust and the injection events, add soot and raw fuel to the engines oil and how that increases the shear stability of the oil or how the added soot clogs up oil journals. Or how EGR and DPF systems cause a 20-30% increase in fuel consumption... and JFI my 2005 ram 3500 that I "modded" did not have DPF or Urea from the factory, and we all know Cats don't remove NOx worth a sh#t. So, again tell us how increasing power which is not going to increase NOx?
Huh?!? First you ask me to enlighten you because you admittedly do not know how these devices work and then you go on to make assumptions on what they do? How can you make assumptions(some false ones at that) if you don't know how these emissions systems work? That does not make sense.
Also, you quoted TNP, but that has nothing to do with removing a silencer out of the intake to let the truck breathe better. I don't see how you are comparing taking a restrictive silencer out of the intake to add a little power and does not make the truck put out any more emissions to completely removing all emissions equipment. How in your head do those two things go together?
