I've popped my silencer out. Notice a tiny bit more noise, but no big change power wise. The only intake I would ever consider is something that nicely packages a donaldson power core filter, but I won't hold my breathe as I don't like how Volant accomplishes it and I doubt anybody else would put the work into re-engineering RAM's ram-air system to work with a powercore. But it'd be nice to have a filter you don't need to touch for 5 years.
I have been driving with it out the day I made this post and finally was able to drive a bit. I didn't notice much difference in sound of the turbos, but it did make the engine more audible. I really don't want to change the filter box itself and only want change the pipe going from the box to the turbo that had this silencer in it. Per the patent for the silencer, it's second job was to make the air less turbulent due to the silencer itself being in the intake and due to the convoluted elbow that comes out of the fuelbox. I don't think just taking it out will have much effect do to this. I will try to hook up to the MAF sensor when I datalog to see if there is any change in the intake air CFM.
