Day 2: we drove 700 miles. We left at 5:00am to beat Atlanta rush hour and that worked out great! We drove through Tennessee. We love Tennessee and spend a lot of time there so we decided to keep going. We drove through Kentucky. Beautiful to look at! Wheat and Corn fields go on forever. The beauty is why we do road trips. Drove uneventfully through Illinois and enjoyed a nice lunch, freshened up, and decided to keep going. Hit Missouri, and drove through St. Lois right a rush hour... Not too bad. The usual nonsense of not letting us get over, cutting in front,.. Took it all in stride. Come out of it and decided to call it a day in Montgemery City Missouri. There is nothing here... I mean nothing. At the advice of the gas attendant we went to the better of the two restaurants in town, Boots. We sat, ordered sodas, looked around, looked at the menu, looked at each other, laughed, paid for our drinks and left. Checked into the campground and asked them to recommend a place and they said, "ain't none." So we had a nice dinner in the TT. STATS: drove between 60and 70mph and averaged 6.8mpg. Using about 1qt of oil every 450 miles which is typical of my van when towing hard. Everything is working. Dog is behaving. DW is a delight to travel with and shares the driving. And me, well I'm easy going and funny as hell!!! :-)
