7.3 after 6 years sitting

I had a old 7.3 f-250. Ford I bought in 2010 with some damage to the front. Just got around to fixing it this year. We'll after sitting for 6+ years I changed oil and new batteries. Fired up after about 30 seconds of cranking and runs well. The only thing I did before storage was add anti-fungicide to the fuel. I thought that was doing good for sitting for so long.

Surprised me how quick it fired up has about 251,000 miles on it. No blow by and runs smooth. Need to drive it to get rid of the old fuel.

  • ^^^^^ I agree with above. Change the oil a couple of times in the first thousand miles.

I restore vintage motorcycles that have set for years. You will be surprised at how much sludge that builds up in a motor that has set over time.
  • Hi. As a suggestion, may want to run for 500 miles, and then install Oil System cleaner, and repeat oil change a second time.
