WTH I'm with Stefonius, if anyone ever suggested that to me I would remove my vehicle from their shop so fast it would make their head spin! Only one time did I have to pull an engine to remove an oil pan.
Most times you only have to disconnect the engine mount and starter to get enough room to remove the pan. I have had to remove the trans crossmember once to lift both the front and rear of the engine to get the needed clearance.
But never would I be so lazy as to cut out the engine crossmember just so I could save some time! That is crazy stupid!
