FWIW, I noticed no difference in performance between my 195 deg t-stat and the new 203 deg t-stat. However, the temperature variations are less erratic with the 203 vs. the 195.
How can you tell the erratic variation?
Most of the Ford temp gauges are like dead stick when at temp and its hard to see the needle ever move once warmed up.
My gauge moves throughout the "NORMAL" range when the truck is running. Can't speak for other vehicles, but the 7.3's of my era will move based upon actual temp. Not that you know what the temp is, but you can tell when it's hotter or cooler. The oil pressure gauge is a "dead stick" as you call it. Once it reaches the "set" oil pressure, it doesn't move. And I also have A/E ScanTool which will read all these paramaters as well.
