I was thinking that way as well when I started my "window shopping"
2013 trucks sells for $50k.
I can buy new XL with 4WD and Crew cab for less than $49k.
With $14k discounts in Washington state, you can buy loaded new truck for $55k
Than I want to trade my 6l, what is hard to sell engine.
Trade-in estimators are giving me $11k for old truck.
I don't think I could sell it privately for $7k
