Interesting. when I emailed carlisle and asked about tires with speed ratings higher than 65mph they stated the highest speed rated ST tire they mfg is speed rated at M, 81mph. Which Carlislie tire do you have??
I have ST205 /75 R15 101N C1 BSW bought at Discount tire. The website shows a speed rating of N.
But! Discount Tire has conflicting information. The tire I have shows a speed rating of N. 87 mph. But in the info section about trailer tires, it says:
Speed
All "ST" tires have a maximum speed rating of 65 mph.
As heat builds up, the tire's structure starts to disintegrate and weaken.
The load carrying capacity gradually decreases as the heat and stresses generated by higher speed increases.
I think it's all a bunch of BS, just to CYA. I don't run over 65 anyway. It would just be nice to get some straight scoop.
