Well, at least you have gotten some different ideas on what to do and how to get there. I can kind of see you looking at maps in your rig and trying to figure out the next move.
I'd suggest to measure the wind threat and then proceed toward your destination. If you're broke and just need to get to Charlotte, sitting in a high priced KOA all day and worrying about roads isn't going to help your trip at all.
It sounds like you're new to this and have a lot of apprehension about roads and travel. Hey, don't worry, most of us have been there. Just take it slow and try to absorb a little of the natural beauty and charm of what you're traveling through. Some of these areas are really spectacular.
