A great weekend at my land in Nacogdoches and the new deck
I'm fortunate to own 232 acres about 3 hours from home and use it as my getaway. It's beautiful rolling hills, creeks and a gorgeous 11 acre lake. I usually park on the hill backed up to the lake, but because of the slope, getting in and out is a bit much. I finally got tired of stepping out onto an incline and not having a level area to set up some chairs, so I decided to build a deck. I'm no expert deck builder, but it's 10x10 and turned out well. The approach side is perfectly suited to step right out of the coach:) Plus, just as I was going to build some steps, I thought, "Hey- since I have to take the torkift steps off anyway, why don't I just use them?" So I fabbed some angle iron, drilled a few holes, bolted them to the deck, and saved the time and money. Works beautifully. It is soooooo nice to step out onto a firm deck, high and dry rather than a grassy, sometimes wet field:) And on this recent trip, it rained the first night which was great! I got to sit out under the extended canopy- a very pleasant evening. Next 2 days sunshine and fishing. 80 during the days, 58 at night. Perfect. I hope ya'll enjoy the pics.
