I would have to double check but I'm pretty sure pickups in Michigan are labeled as "trucks" on the registration. I'm certain of 3/4 & 1 ton trucks. I think it even applies to most SUV's...so not really stretching ignorance of the law.
It doesn't say anything about a commercial truck on my 2500 registration, or insurance. Regular passenger vehicle registration and insurance for me, in Michigan.
