A month with the 3500...
...and all is going great!
It was a ST truck when I got it, but I've added a few things.
- Leer canopy...gotta love Craigslist. Picked up a few other goodies as he was stripping his.
- Putco bug deflector. Liked this one because it followed the entire contour of the hood
- Putco fender trims. Was a bit worried they were going to make it look too "pimpy". Like em'
- No-name window wind deflectors. Were so cheap I thought 'why not?'
Just need to find some longer mud flaps - don't like the molded ones that only come about halfway down the tires. Still looking....
Driving to and from work for a few weeks. 14MPG
Just did a 1000 mile round trip (finally got to get her on the highway) and with 2 hours of idling in a traffic getting out of town got me 19MPG. Straight run home was 19.84MPG averaging 70MPH overall.
Was interesting to find the truck simply getting a bit 'growlier' on any hill without downshifting to maintain speed. Being a gasser guy previous to this, I've read all about the low end grunt diesels have, but was sure happy to experience it. Very nice indeed.
Anyway, pretty happy with it, and I know.......I have to get a trailer behind it!!!
Just waiting for the DW to mutter, "Maybe we should look at some trailers." Must be a bit patient :)
