Aanyone ever replaced propane tanks

I was having dinner last night with a friend and we were discussing horizontal tanks. He suggested that I remove my two 20# tanks and install two 30# tanks, as I have the length. Actually my propane box is almost deep enough to stick in two 40# jugs.

Anyone know of any reason that industrial horizontal tanks would not work. They are about 1/3 the price of those that are for sale for RV's, which is basically a difference that the industrial tanks do not have feet to hold it in place. I could make a cradle that would do the same thing.
  • Do any tanks draw liquid and if they do what uses the liquid? A fork lift comes to mind but I have been under the impression they run on expanding vapor.

    True statement......sorta

Tanks (typically hard mounted in MH type RVs)
    BUT
Cylinders come in vertical (traditional TT, 5vr use) and in horizontal (TC and fork lift use) designs

My horizontal tanks draw vapor. Note the valve at the top of the tank (when laying down) And they are removable DOT tanks

    like this:

  • Have you priced 30 lb horizontal tanks? I think you will be surprised (as in sticker shock!)
  • No problem they just have a different valve system and will work just fine.
  • Trying to picture your giant tank storage. Does this mean you'd have room for more upright 20's?
