About to buy Rebuilt TT (previous salvage) Please help!

Looking to the expert community for advice before I buy. I have never owned an RV but am ready to pull the trigger on a 17' travel trailer.

The good:
Its a floorpan I really want and cannot find another one for sale in the US.
It's a great deal at $8500
Its local
The repair looks pretty good

The Bad:
The dealer is shady AF
The sticker that shows GVRW is missing (may have been on a replaced panel)
the trailer was laid on its side and one side skin was replaced.

Has anyone ever purchase one with previous salvage title? Anything I need to be aware of when it comes to registration and insurance?
Is the missing GVRW sticker something I need to worry about?

I expect there will be some issues with the trailer due to the wreck but given that I cannot find another one that suits my very specific needs and its cheap and local. I am okay if I have to do some repairs or upgrades. I just don't want to find out later I made a huge mistake because I was uneducated on the savage or GVWR sticker issues.

Thanks for any advice.
  • $8500k what year is this tt? and it will be almost impossible to resell. there will always be problems, the plumbing electrical have all been compromised. twisted ext. no not for me , p.s and you should not belive everything a sales person says. they want your money .
  • You don't mention what year the trailer is, but couldn't you buy one of similar size (17 - 18') in a 2016 or 2017 model that's never been damaged for about the same money? Most of my knowledge is in Class A, B, and C's, but checking RVTrader it looks like it's not that stellar of a deal. What brand is it?
  • Used trailers in good condition in the 17 foot long range that are not salvage can be purchased for $8500. What year of manufacture? A shady dealer? I don’t think this is a great deal. It’s what you can’t see that’s important.
  • Check with your insurance company to see what insurance they will issue for the TT before you buy.

Consider hiring a mobile RV Tech to do an inspection before you buy.
