ABS Module - Dodge Durango

It appears the ABS module is bad. I am looking for a replacement or a rebuild. In the meantime, can the SUV still be used without presenting any danger? We are not towing with it but it is a daily driver. I have read that it isn't an issue as far as braking. What about doing any damage to other computerized parts?

I have checked on Ebay and MercadoLibre (Mexican Ebay site) and there are options. It should be about a week before I have a replacement.
  • News Flash: It's not that rare, and exactly why Module Master and several other companies do a brisk business in rebuilding these units.
  • It's very very rare for a module to just go bad. Is it damaged in any way? Like water or corrosion? Are you sure it just doesn't need to be re flashed? Have you taken to a Dodge dealer and hooked up to the WiTech system?
  • Check out Module Master in Idaho, got a rebuilt ABS module for the Suburban there. What's nice is that they inventory popular models, so rather than rebuild yours, your order a rebuilt one and send yours back for a core credit. IIRC, my net cost after core credit was around $175.
  • For now just reinstall it and drive it as is. it will not harm nor change normal brake use.
  • The module has been removed for evaluation. One shop wants 6000 pesos for rebuilding(?) it. That comes to about 400 dollars U.S. I think I can do better and want more time to check it out.

But no damage to any other component, computer or wiring?
  • Might be a good idea to pull the main ABS fuse, since a bad module could cause problems with the BCM (the Body Control Module is pretty sensitive). Your brakes will operate just fine without without ABS.
