I made two mistakes with the solar. The first mistake was maxing out the charge controller--making increasing the size expensive. The second mistake was buying a generator instead of doing a massive upgrade to solar. I've paid far more for generators than for solar.
I am there now with the solar controller being maxed out but I do have two PWM controllers that do lithium..
As to generators,you can buy a good inverter gen for around $400 and be done with it..I bought a camo Westinghouse 2200 for slightly over $400 and it works great..I have a hard time spending money on solar when I have two small inverter gens(Honda and Westinghouse) and they can do it all including the AC for my TC..Gas is high right now but both will run 10 hours or so less than a gallon of gas and noise is and was never a concern for us because there both quiet..
Certain things require a lot of power which means a lot of solar and large solar controllers which get spendy in a hurry if you go down that road.
