A/C Failure. Strategies for HOT Weather?

My A/C failed on the last day of a week long trip. It hit 105 two of the days. I have been unable to get a replacement fast enough for my next trip this weekend. Forecast: 98 deg.

Strategies for HOT Weather with a camper without A/C?

Keep the fan going. Keep the HI FAN on the A/C blowing. Keep windows open, all the obvious? Tent?
  • 98 degrees? You're a tougher camper than me. Google heatstroke symptoms and keep your eyes open. Then again , maybe its too late if you are really serious :)
  • We camp in hot weather and have found nearby shopping malls and movie theaters to be havens from the heat. If we are in the woods, the is almost always a lake or stream nearby. One weekend, we spent almost the entire time sitting on our folding chairs inthe river! It was actually one of our better trips.

In the camper, our Fantastic Vent steps in and does what it can. We put it on exhaust mode and close all ofthe windows and vents except for the one where we are. For example, if we are at the dinette, we open the window there and get a great breeze.
  • Check Craigslist. I found a nice new Coleman 6727 listed on the Seattle page. No RV is habitable in hot temperatures without AC, imho.

  • We brought along a blow-up kiddie poll for our son when he was little and found it was a great retreat for us too!
