A/C& Heat question

I have an 2012 Adventurer that i recently bought, and it has a Dometic Penguin A/C in it. It has a place on the switch to use a heat strip but there is not one in it. Would it be worthwhile to put the heat strip in? Do these do much good? We now carry a small electric heater that we could leave at home.
  • I had the heat strip in a previous 5th wheel and it was good for keeping the chill off the air, but not so good at warming up a really cold area. Sometimes I would turn on the furnace, bring to temps, then turn on the strip and it worked well.
  • We used ours a couple of nights Easter weekend when we had shore power. I actually had to turn it down because it was getting too warm in the camper. Outside temps were in the 30s.

  • Hi,

I enjoy using a heat strip if there is a lot of ambient noise that I wish to cover up. Do not expect miracles as 5000 btu's is not very much heat.
  • heat strip puts out 5,000 BTU, the same as most space heaters. Some like them, others dont. Had them in our previous coach and they worked will. It does take them a while to warm the coach.
We did exactly that. Replaced those PITA space heaters.
