It mainly depends on the length of the circuit and resulting voltage drop. The AC pulls several times its operating amperage when it first starts so the wiring needs to be able to handle the current inrush. Also, low voltage will cause your air conditioner to pull even higher amps which can cause heating in the circuit, particularly in the plug and receptacle. After your AC has been running for awhile, touch the power plug from your RV and see it it's hot. If it's really warm, I'd get an ammeter and test the current draw on the circuit. If it's approaching 18 amps, you're getting close to overloading the circuit.
