Actually, there are 2 UVW ratings that should be considered - 1) the brochure listed UVW of a base trailer, the weight many erroneously quote as being the trailer's "dry weight" and 2) the actual stickered dry weight of any given trailer as it sits at the factory ready to be shipped to the dealer. In the case of my current Coachmen that first number is 3535 lbs but the second number is a whopping 280 lbs more @ 3815 lbs. We obviously travel MUCH lighter than you as our trailer's GVW loaded and ready to camp typically averages around 4500 lbs, somewhat more if I have content in any of the 3 holding tanks.

We do carry a lot. However, we're not weekend campers. We usually travel 6 weeks at a time, cover 1,000s of miles per trip and might hit FL and CO on the same trip.

An important point that would undoubtedly skew any results posted by others. ;) Regardless, a ton of "junk" is still a LOT for anyone and is FAR more than what we would carry even on longer trips, our theory being there's always a WalMart nearby where we can buy what we may later decide we need. ;)

I travel with empty grey and black tanks. 5 Gal in black tank and 10 Gal or so in fresh tank. Just enough in the event we need a pit stop without facilities.

We're weekenders with the occasional 2 weeks during the summer. I have 4300+lbs for CCC so I just pack what I want even if I don't use it but maybe once or twice during the season. I also have 4-6V GC batteries, a Honda 2000W gen, two bikes a Camp Chef with oven, etc. Lots of heavy items. Trucks rated for way more than the trailers weight so it's smooth sailing.

Soundguy, you need to branch out a little if you are always close to Walmart. In the western US there is not a Walmart around every corner. It may be a long drive to even a tiny grocery store. We take trips that last months (and thousands of miles) and need clothes for each season. We eat all of our meals at home and carry a large assortment of dishes, pots, pans, crock pot, everything we need to cook any meal we want. Our parents are all still alive (my mom is 84 and my dad is 88) so we carry all the clothes, shoes, suitcases, etc. we would need to fly off and go to a funeral. I carry lots of tools. We have 2 vacuum cleaners, upright and handheld. Our trailer is our house while we travel. Nothing that we carry is junk and it is there for a reason.

I haven't weighed for a few years, but we carry about 1500 lbs.

The UVW is 6,250 pounds, loaded and weighted at the scales is 6,625. We must not carry everything we should but always seem to have what we need on trips. Except that one tool to do an on site repair.

On our last trip for 6 weeks out west, the camper weighed 800 lbs more on the axles and the truck was 1100 lbs more than empty. The truck weight includes tongue weight and cargo. Most of the time we are a lot less in the truck.

Sticker weight is 3825
Actual weight is 4120
Loaded weight is 4980 (last trip)
Gross weight rating is 6200

I have yet to figure out what the dealer added that came to almost 300 lbs.
