If you feel that 4" vent pipe is too large for such a tight space, then simply install a 3" flex hose instead. Especially if it only needs to heat a small room as well. For furnace connection, go from 4" to 3" reducer, then use 3" flex hose for the tight areas. re: - click here -
If wondering, I use a small 3" heat / AC pipe in my home's small 2 piece main floor bathroom and its custom install 3" size works great. Needed 3" pipe above basement's electrical panel area - where available space was limited as well.
