We had very nice sliding doors to the master bdrm that slid behind the entertainment center, so not true pocket doors. We took them out in favor of curtains for several reasons:
1) Heavy curtains absorb sound, not reflect it and amplify it like hard surface doors;
2) The dog can move in/out of the curtains without scratching at the doors;
3) The doors took up valuable storage room at the end of the bed;
4) The doors blocked the bedroom TV when open, so the doors had to be closed to see the TV;
5) Door hardware was constantly out of alignment from road travel.
DW did a marvelous job on the drapes, used fabric on the LR side that matched the couch and fabric on the BR side that matched the bedspread.
I will admit the doors looked fancy and impressive when we bought the TT, but after one season we knew they had to go. Just not practical IMO.
