Adding shelves to our hybrid

We have a third cabinet at the other end we hang jackets in so we never hung anything in these. We used them for blankets, pillows, towels etc. I used plastic trim that I glued and screwed for supports and lauan plywood for the shelves themselves. Did not need anything heavy for what we are putting on them. And the lauan matched.

I have done the same. My only issue is when items shift on the shelves when driving, the door tends to pop open and stuff will spill out.

If I have properly wedged things while packing, no problem, but I am now looking into a better door latch.
