Adventurer 80SK vs Travel Lite 770SL

Hi Newbie Question,

I've read through the forum trying to get a handle on TC quality and winterization. We are looking for a TC to use winter camping on ski trips. Quality, winterization, light weight and simplicity rank highest for us.

Can anybody relate their personal experiences with Travel Lite or Adventurer campers? Have you been happy with the quality and/or the winterization?

We live on the wetside of the Pacific Northwest and I want to make sure what ever we buy resists water and rot as long as possible.

Thanks for your help.
  • We had a great experience with our Adventurer...and we do ski camp.We camped in temps down the the teens (deg F) no problem...and we did use our H20 system.
The Adventurer was so reliable we stuck with the same Mfr when we upgraded (AMLRV).

Never had a travel lite..are they more of a value brand? Don't know if they are 4 season. I am sure someone here has one...

    Good luck, TC's rock!

  • Take a look at the new Adventurer 80rb or a little bigger 86fb.

80rb has a north south bed with toilet & shower.

    What size is your vehicle/truck?
  • Sheriffdoug:

I've looked at the larger units but we really want to keep out setup as light as possible. We will be putting the camper on a 2500 Diesel Silverado.

    Billyray and Kerry:

Do both of you have experience with Adventurer?

I never owned either but I looked at the Travel Lite since my AF dealer sold them also. I was not impressed with the overall build quality. The Advenurers that I've been in were much better built,so I would base my decision on overall build quality.
  • We have a larger Adventurer. I know you want to stay lighter, but the quality and customer service is first rate. We love ours. We do some boondocking, and WI has some very rough roads. It's holding up well. We've not winter camped yet, but have stayed toasty warm in the 30's. We routinely use it off the truck and it's rock steady.

With Adventurer, you get a lot of extras for your dollar. Just remember, every brand has it's issues. None are perfect. You have to work out the bugs.

We've had fridge issues and jack issues. Those are not on Adventurer, they're separate companies.
  • I have owned an adventurer 85ws for 7 years now with zero issues. My DW and I are meticulous in our maintenance, waxing and resealing the exterior and fixing any nicks we cause on the interior. We were thinking about a bigger unit but with us having such luck with our current unit we have decided to keep it fot a few more years.
  • Arawhouser,

I owned a 2012 Adventurer 86 FB and loved it. Quality and customer service was very good. We really liked the mid bath design. With deep regret I sold it due to the dry weight being over 3200 lbs. with options That's with no onboard generator too.. My truck actually handled it fine but got caught up with the weight police here. That will not happen again!! Bought a older lance 815 which about 1000 lbs. lighter. Sure do miss the Adventurer though. nice 4 season TC...
