Well, it looks like the two Interstates are cooked. I'm considering upgrading to AGMs.
Looking at some of the pricing, like the EXIDE brand is scary, but OPTIMA lists a nice 750CCA batter for only about 175.00
Any experience or advice?
thanks
Optima batteries would NOT be my choice for an RV . They are good batteries for some purposes, but far from what would be best for an RV ... assuming we're speaking of a motor home. A 750CCA rating is meaningless for RV use.....CCA is cold cranking amps...for engine starting. You want to look at Amp-Hour ratings....and Optima batteries are pretty measly. If you must go with a cheap Optima AGM, at last get the Blue Top as that is more deep cycle than the Yellow or Red top. ... but it only has a 50AH rating. Your Interstate batteries probably had at least a 216AH rating....more than double what two Blue Top Optima batteries would provide. Get what your budget can handle, but be prepared for less run time on all your RV equipment if you get Optima. For just a few dollars more you could get a real AGM RV battery:
