I still keep going back to the half ton part of the equation.
Seems like upgrading to 2500 leaf spring packs would solve most all issues right off the bat?
Well the 1500 HD is not really a "half ton". The badge is misleading and simply a marketing thing that GM came up with to have the "heaviest in its class". It is actually the same truck as a 2500 LD, or 2500 non-HD. It has a heavier suspension, transmission, rear-end, 8 lug wheels, etc. It is a heavier duty truck than a 1500, but not as heavy duty as a 2500 HD. It has fairly heavy leafs, plus I added Stableloads to engage the overload leafs early. I was hoping this was the only suspension upgrade I needed, but I was wrong.
Like another poster mentioned, the short-bed truck is hurting me, even though this camper was designed specifically for short-bed trucks. I believe the fact that it is a crew cab also hurts the weight distribution.
