Any helper spring will only raise the fulcrum point in the teeter totter. The extension on the hitch is a great big lever to pick up the front end of the vehicle. For every foot of extension you add behind the rear axle, you increase the mechanical advantage, and greatly reduce the capacity of your hitch. 1' of extension you decrease the capacity of your hitch by 1/2, 2' equals a decrease of 2/3rd's.
