air bags pump

What type of pump do you guys use to fill your air bags on your truck? I will have the air fills in the rear at the license plate location. I am hoping for a small cordless type filler with a guage on it. Any suggestions?

  • I at first tried using a 12V air compressor (the same one I use to top of the tires) and was unable to accurately fill the Airbags.

Then I grabbed a floor standing Bicycle pump (with gauge)- it works great. Very easy to hit a target PSI or watch one side of the rig go up as you pump. After getting the high side adjusted to be just on the overloads, I put a level on the rear bumper and adjust for Left-right.

    YMMV.
  • I carry a smitty bilt portable air pump. Use if for topping off the tires and filled up air bags when I had them.
  • I set mine at home with a compressor. I do carry a bike pump...but have never had to use it. The bags pretty much stay set for the season. Although with the supersprings we have now, the bags are only there for leveling.
