Air conditioner mounting wedge

Update. I took the shroud off and checked it out. The drain holes are in the front (higher) part of the collection pan. I could see the water mark on the plastic. Because of the slope the water would pool up high enough so that the fan would just blow it into the air conditioner intake before it reached the drain holes. I took the lazy way out and drilled a couple of new drain holes in the collection pan on the aft end (lower). Should be good to go.

I would agree that you should look for obstructions in drain path.

Since you will have to remove it to install a wedge, can't you just turn it around so the drain is down slope?

Sounds like the condensation tray has a plugged drain. You will need to remove the plastic cover and under the front portion remove the top half of the plenum. The tray will be visible under the coil.

With a severe slope a condensation pump is normally used.

Thanks all for the replies. There is no leak from my base gasket. The water comes in from the air conditioner unit as it drains into the trailer instead of on the roof. I wish this unit were mounted up front as the spec shows allowable down slope of 20 degrees as opposed to 5 degree up slope. My guess is that Carriage used the wrong air conditioner or mounted it wrong to begin with. I bought this trailer when it was 6 years old and it had never been used so it was never caught.

I will build the wedge myself out of plastic and see how it works. If not, air conditioner shopping.

By the way, I tried to post a picture of the instruction manual showing the wedge but apparently my computer and this forum do not play well together. Can't figure how others post pictures as I follow the instructions to the T.

If the normal drain holes/channels get clogged with debris you can get overflow to the inside.

Over tightening can and will cause a leak. It will distort the pan. The bolts should be torqued to 14 ftlb. no more. Remove the unit, look at the pan and straighten as needed, install new gasket, and tighten bolts.

My front one has a heck of an angle, and no leaks. Did a condensation tube fall off or something?

I've enver heard of or seen one of those but it doesn't seem like it could be much of a wedge or the 4 long screws wouldn't mate up.
I've seen some AC's at very steep angles on some fivers.

Probably just need a new seal or snug down that one a little.
