Air mattress or plywood under foam mattress on sleep sofa?

Thanks everyone; looks like mattress topper short term. Futon sounds interesting.
Need to come up with something. It's a tough job.....Poppa's purpose is keeping granddaughter and Nanna happy - they sleep in the bedroom - I take care of everything else.
