any problems with condensation under the foam mattresses?

We have an inflatable queen mattress for tent camping or guests. It is much more comfortable with a memory foam topper. Without the topper, it can be cold - The temperature of the mattress is equalized to platform or floor on which it lays. It typically needs some air each additional night, but holds up through each night once inflated.

I've bought 3 different air mattresses since we bought the camper a little over 3 years ago. Yes, that's one per year. Sick and tired of waking up in the middle of the night or in the morning to a semi-inflated mattress. We finally broke down and bought an Ikea foam mattress. We are so happy. I finally get to sleep all the way through the night. I never knew how important sleep was til we got this thing. It cost $300. Worth every penny. Ikea also has a policy that if you're unsatisfied, you can choose a different one within 1 year. We bought a firm. It's too firm though. Trading it in on a semi-firm. Highly recommend one. Weighs 46 lbs according to the package.
25 year warranty.

I had an aero bed once, queen size. I liked it. Comfy, and not cold at all. Built in compressor too, so you can select the right firmness.

I'd buy one again if I had too.

Some "pads" supplied by RV manufacturers aren't even appropriate for a pet to sleep on. Torture is an understatement.

My Arctic Fox came with a decent mattress, which is just as comfortable as my bed at home.

There's air mattresses and ComfortAire Bedz (sleep number style)! We use ComfortAire mattresses in our home and RV for years. Those padded things the RV manufacturers supply are not mattresses...more like torture. The sleep number systems are expensive, but so is a miserable night's sleep or trip to the Dr. for back issues.
In all seriousness, when we spend months on the road, it's nice to have a home feeling bed.

I use one, only when tent camping.
It gets low in the middle of the night due to lowering ambient temps.
It acts like a big heat sink and sucks the heat out of my body.

You can buy a quality mattress for your RV. I'd go that route long before considering an air mattress.

Air mattress is fine for short term, like tent camping or in the back of my truck canopy, or the floor of my cargo trailer, but I'd never consider one as a permanent (or semi-permanent) solution to replacing the mattress in an RV.

A couple years ago we went to Alaska from Florida and back. We were maxed out on weight so we went to extreme measures to reduce weight. The mattress we had was about 50 lbs so we went to an air mattress at about 15lbs. Actually THEY were fairly comfortable. First one Walmart, cannot remember the brand but inexpensive. First one held air about 2-3 days, second one the same. Next to REI, held air about three days, second one the same, also comfortable. The other thing to be aware of is elevation change and air pressure. I know some have had good luck with air mattresses but no more for us.
