Airbag recall

The recall has expanded to a national recall. The full list of affected vehicles is at the end of this article. Ford: Rangers; Chrysler/Dodge: quite a few trucks and SUVs. GM must use a different vendor. Lots of imports.

Sounds like that company is in deep trouble if the accusations, that they knew about the problem 10 years ago and covered it up, are true. People died and if the claims are true then manslaughter charges would seem to be appropriate.
  • I think it is pretty interesting that a Japanese airbag manufacturer is having such a huge recall yet my 99.3% Japanese manufactured car (Acura) is not involved in the recall. It appears that the Japanese owned plant in Mexico is responsible for all the issues.
  • There is a major backlog from that manufacturer. They originally limited the recall to southern high humidity states but the Feds forced them to expand it to the entire US. They couldn't supply enough for the south, it will take them, possibly, a very long time to complete this.
  • When the campaign first hit, my TV wasn't on the list; now it is. Guess I'll be calling the dealer tomorrow and set up an appointment.
  • Thanks for posting this; my Chrysler 300 is on the list, so guess I should expect something in the mail sooner or later.
  • Seems a rather bizarre twist of fate that the only GM vehicles affected are the Pontiac Vibe - built for GM by Toyota!
I believe other GM vehicles used air bags made by TRW.
