Airstreams are wonderful trailers. They have a style you can't get anywhere else. The ones I've looked at have light, airy interiors with lots of windows and skylights and plenty of storage spaces. The 25' and 27' trailers have more room in them than most people would need. Their cabinetry is laminated plywood and the styling is very contemporary compared to traditional squarish trailers.
A fully loaded 27 footer is around $80k list, but you can get 10-15% off that price.
You do need to understand their quirks before you buy one. While the aluminum skin is vary durable, it does take some care to keep it cosmetically perfect. They can be leaky just like every trailer out there and they have a wood floor, which I do not like from an engineering perspective.
I say if you can afford it, and can take care of it, then go for it. I highly recommend the airstream forum at www.airforums.com. Lots of active owners there and can elighten you about their pros and cons.
